Gozo Minister Anton Refalo apparently maintains a loan of €781,000, involving monthly payments of €2,250. He has a ministerial salary of €45,329 and income from other sources.

In his declaration of assets to Parliament, Dr Refalo declared 16 properties in total, but a number of these properties actually include three or four flats in the same block, so if the flats are counted individually he actually owns 27 properties.

Another notable property owner is Labour MP Marlene Farrugia, who owns 16 properties, three of which are abroad.

For the second year running, both her and her partner Godfrey Farrugia filed exemplary asset declarations, providing photocopies of their bank account holdings.

By contrast, Finance Minister Edward Scicluna’s scribbled down declarations proved to be illegible to two journalists.
