The footage above shows huge tract of pristine land in that has been earmarked for the development of the ‘American University of Malta’ in Zonqor, Marsascala. The footage was provided to the media by the PN at a press conference this morning.

The university campus will be spread over some 91,000 metres squared of land but the whole project, including the proposed natural park, is expected to take up some 500 tumoli of land.

Most of the site is agricultural land leased to farmers, who plant export potatoes and bush clover (silla). The farmers have not been consulted on the project and fear that the lands will be taken by the government.

PN Leader Simon Busuttil this morning called on the media, NGOs and civil society to unite against the development of the university on pristine land.
