Watch: Prospective candidate for PN secretary general post sends video message to all party members

Tuesday, 19 May 2015, 15:23 Last update: about 9 years ago

Though she may not have committed herself to run for PN Secretary General as yet, Rosette Thake took to video messaging all party members who have a vote in the upcoming election for the PN’s Executive Council. Ms Thake needs to be elected on the council before she could be endorsed for the post of Secretary General. Should she manage to get elected to the Executive Council she will then have to face seasoned politicians such as David Casa, David Agius and Jean Pierre Debono who are all toying with the idea whether or not to contest for the post vacated by Chris Said, who has been asked by party leader not to contest to be able to focus on Gozo.

In her video message, Ms Thake tells party members that she wants to work hard to see the PN open its doors to a wider selection of people from all walks of life and for it to become once more the natural choice for all Maltese and Gozitans. This, she claims, can only be achieved with a united party where everyone pulls the same rope and with an effective strategy.

Ms Thake’s tone is that of someone ready to take on a much bigger challenge than that of an Executive Council member, something which ultimately she has to declare or denounce once the internal elections are over.  It is very clear that Ms Thake is being pushed by the new and young elements within the party to take on the post.
