Amber gave a very good rendition of her song Warrior in tonight's semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest but it was not enough to book her a spot in Saturday's final.

Amber needed to place 10th or above out of 17 entries if she were to qualify for Saturday night's grand finale.

Seventeen entries were judged by televoting tonight with Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, Sweden, Norway, Montenegro, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Latvia and Israel going through to the final along with 10 selected on Tuesday and six countries that do not need to go through the semis. Among them is guest country Australia.

Amber entered the competition as the bookmakers' 12th favourite to qualify. Irish bookmakers Paddypower have given Malta odds of 4/5 to progress to the final, and a remote 50/1 to emerge as winner.

In the first semi-final, favourites Russia and Serbia qualified alongside Albania, Armenia, Romania, Hungary, Greece, Estonia, Georgia, and Belgium.

They are joined in the final by the 'big five' of France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK, as well as last year's winners Austria. Australia is taking part to celebrate the competition's 60-year anniversary.
