Bank of Valletta supports top performing University students

Friday, 22 May 2015, 17:57 Last update: about 10 years ago

Seven students from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Malta were awarded a mention in the Dean's List for their outstanding achievements. Bank of Valletta has renewed its support towards this award for the fifteenth year running.

"Bank of Valletta's role in the community goes beyond what we deliver through our core business activities. Education occupies a key position in our Community Programme because we strongly believe in the importance of collaborating towards the holistic development of the upcoming generation. Here we are giving our support to students who have shown exceptional commitment in their studies." said John Paul Abela, Manager, Media and Community Relations at Bank of Valletta.

To qualify for this award, students need to achieve excellent grades during the first two years of their B.A or B.A. Honours degree. Prof. Dominic Fenech, Dean of the Faculty of Arts joined Mr Abela in congratulating the students for their achievement and thanked Bank of Valletta for its ongoing support. Prof Fenech stated that

Prof. Fenech warmly congratulated the students on their achievement emphasising that only the top-performing students featured in the Dean's List. Usually this works out to one in every hundred, but this year, like last year, the rate was higher. This bears testimony to both the higher quality of students and the rising standards of teaching and learning within the Faculty.  The addresses of the students, he added, also challenged the common perception that levels of education were somehow lower in the so-called south of Malta. He spoke of the proven levels of employment satisfaction among Faculty of Arts graduates, adding that the best guarantee of career success is the ability to be excellent in whatever one chooses to do. The Dean extended his congratulations to the Faculty's academic departments, of which the successful students were ambassadors to be proud of. He concluded by again thanking the event's sponsor, Bank of Valletta.

The students receiving this prestigious award are Jonathan Camilleri, Eucharist Gravina, Christine S. Kunkler, Christina Meli, Jonathan Polidano, Kay Polidano and Geraldine Sammut. They expressed their gratitude towards the Faculty for the support received during their years of study.
