Valletta 18 chairman Jason Micallef pointed his fingers at PBS chief executive officer Anton Attard following Malta’s elimination from the Eurovision Song Contest final.

Posting a photo of Mr Attard on his Facebook page, Mr Micallef said that “this man has to answer a lot for yet another elimination for Malta in the Eurovision (song contest) semi-final”.

The total responsibility for this year’s result is his from beginning to end, Mr Micallef wrote.

Singer Amber, with her song “Warrior”, was eliminated on Thursday evening.

In an indirect reply to Mr Micallef, Public Broadcasting Services issued a statement to thanks Mr Attard, who was also head of delegation to the contest being held in Austria, for the sterling work carried out in the last seven months. Without mentioning Mr Micallef, PBS said that Mr Attard's work was evident in the great performance given by Amber.

PBS also thanked the singer for her excellent performance and said it will continue to work to give exposure to Maltese talent in music competitions organised by the European Broadcasting Union.
