The much awaited debut album of THE NEW VICTORIANS was launched on Tuesday at Waterbiscuit, St.Julains. The 13 track album entitled 'Seeker seeker' follows their successful EP which included their hits ' Tom , Dick & Harry', 'Dustpile' and their very well received rendition of Queen ' Somebody to Love' which has surpassed 100,000 views on you tube.
Sister duo, Bettina (22) and Philippa (19) , have made music together all their lives. In December 2011 they participated at the International Alchemy Songwriting Competition, Arkansas, USA where they were the youth division winners judged by a star industry panel including American Idol Winner Kris Allen and Grammy Award-Winner David Hodge. Following that success, doors were opened locally encouraging the duo to work towards releasing original music. 'This has been an exciting journey all along and seeing the album shape up the way it has is nothing short of satisfaction , dedication , love and passion ' said Bettina .
The band, which now consists of 5 members, entered Jagged House Studios to start recording their debut album 2 years ago with producer & mentor Howard Keith. 'The first thing that struck me about this act is their songwriting . The second thing was that i could really feel their energy and how contagious it was' From folk to electronic, pop to jazz , the 13 track album is packed with top notch tracks which all deserve the great feedback this album is receiving both locally and international music lovers most notably on their latest single " Keep Me in Love' and the title track of the album 'Seeker Seeker'
'We wanted our first album to be perfect and Howard knew exactly how to translate what we imagined in a reality.' Phillipa added.
The album launch, coinciding with the Greek Theatre performance at Earth Garden Festival on the 5th of June, clearly shows how far this act has come. It will be a special night for the New Victorians , jam packed with special guests such as Ira Losco, Gianluca, a choir , a visual show performing all the songs from the album and much more. Chris Tanti will be the support act performing with his finger style guitar .
