Malta's water loss through the mains is the lowest since 1995, technical mouthful of a PQ reveals

It takes a technical mouthful to bring out some positive news in this country, or so it seems according to a parliamentary question about water loss.

After a series of questions which were laden with comparisons, insinuations, counter insinuations and arguments, it seems that Malta's water loss is at the lowest that it has ever been since records began in 1995.

Opposition MP Censu Galea asked what the "unnaccounted for water loss" was. He asked where water was being lost, and where the least amount of water was lost, how much water was lost in total and what localities.

It seems that Mr Galea was referring to water lost through the mains system, because Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi said that according to the Infrastructure Leakege Index, Malta scored 1.94 (of what, is anyone's guess) and apparently, in 1995, the index number was 20.

This positive development, said the Minister, has led to the Water Services Corporation being elevated to the A-Band according to standards of the World Bank Institute.
