GERMANY-G7

ELMAU, Germany — Leaders of the Group of Seven wealthy democracies are searching for a common stance on climate change on the second and final day of their summit. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is seeking agreement on eventually moving away from the use of carbon-based fossil fuels and an endorsement of goals to limit the long-term rise in global temperatures and provide financing to help countries deal with the impact of climate change.

TURKEY-ELECTIONS

ANKARA, Turkey — Turkey's ruling party hasfew options to form a new government, after it was stripped of its parliamentary majority and opposition parties ruled out joining it in a coalition pact. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's AKP party won about 41 percent of the votes in Sunday's election and was projected to take 258 seats, 18 short of a majority.

IRAN-NUCLEAR-

VIENNA — The European Union is telling Iran to cooperate with a stalled U.N. probe of suspicions that it worked on atomic arms if the country wants a nuclear deal that will see removal of sanctions.

GERMANY-ECONOMY

BERLIN — German industrial production returned to growth in April, growing by 0.9 percent compared with the previous month — another promising sign for Europe's biggest economy. The Federal Statistical Office said Monday that the increase followed a 0.4 percent drop in March, revised from the initial reading of 0.5 percent. The figures come after data released Friday showed a second consecutive monthly rise in factory orders in April.

SWITZERLAND-FLOODING

BERLIN — Swiss police say that a woman and her 5-year-old daughter have drowned in central Switzerland when their home was flooded following severe thunderstorms. Police in Lucerne said Monday that the family was in the basement of the home in the small town of Dierikon when the building was suddenly flooded on Sunday night.

PORTUGAL-IMF

LISBON, Portugal — Portugal is showing off its relative financial health — and signaling it is different from Greece — by paying back another batch of international loans ahead of their due date. Greece's difficulties in reaching a deal with creditors who bailed it out during Europe's recent debt crisis has spooked investors and fueled a steep rise in the country's borrowing costs.

SPAIN-AIR CONTROLLERS-STRIKE

MADRID — Spain's air traffic controllers began four days of partial strikes Monday that could cause major traffic disruptions as the summer vacation season gets underway. The stoppages were scheduled to take place between 10 a.m. and noon and between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Monday, and again on June 10, 12 and 14.

BRITAIN-MOSS

LONDON — Supermodel Kate Moss has been escorted off a plane after reportedly being disruptive while traveling from Turkey to London's Luton airport.
