Monday, 15 June 2015, 17:32 Last update: about 10 years ago

The Valletta Shopping Festival was launched today at the Chamber of Commerce in Valletta. The Festival, running throughout this week till Saturday, is part of a holistic campaign to promote Valletta as a major shopping destination for both locals and tourists. Valletta provides added value to shoppers through Malta’s top brands and outlets, entertainment, culture and history.

The Festival will include various promotions across Valletta's outlets, as well as an array of music and animation activities around Valletta's streets. This year will also feature street concerts every day, by Firelight, Red Electrick, Gianni and Claudia Faniello. Between Thursday and Saturday, shops will be open till 9pm. The Festival is being sponsored by BOV and Go, with the support of the Malta Tourism Authority, the Valletta Local Council, the Arts Council, as well as the Valletta2018 Foundation.

RSBCA President Mr. Paul Fenech stated that this was the second edition of the Festival. He expressed his satisfaction that Valletta is experiencing an increase in shopping volumes once again. Mr. Fenech said that the aims for this shopping Festival are twofold: the first is to promote Valletta as a major shopping destination; the second is that of promoting Valletta as an investiment hub, adding to the rich variety of quality brands that are already associated with the capital city. Mr. Fenech said that this Festival would not have been possible without the sponsors BOV and Go, together with the support of the Malta Tourism Authority, as well as the Valletta Local Council, the Arts Council and the Valletta 2018 Foundation.

BOV also announced that during the Valletta Shopping Festival, the Bank’s Museum in St. John’s Square will be open between 9am and 12.45pm, and between 4pm and 7pm.

The official programme of activities is also included on the Festival’s website www.vallettashoppingfestival.com.
