A man was arrested by members of the Rapid Intervention Unit following a search that was carried out in his car in St Julian’s this afternoon.

The man was stopped at about 3.15pm by two police cars in Birkirkara Hill – right in front of The Malta Independent offices – while he was driving a car.

The four members of the police were seen conducting a search and elevating objects which they put in a plastic bag.

The man was later taken away in one of the two cars, while his own vehicle was towed away.

Contacted by this newspaper, the police media office did not have details about the arrest.
