Thursday, 25 June 2015, 10:47 Last update: about 10 years ago

At an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of Seifert Systems Ltd, the Minister for the Economy, Investment and Small Business, Dr Chris Cardona said that the company has much to celebrate since from small beginnings the Seifert family has built a highly successful company which is a leading player in thermal management today.

Seifert Systems Ltd operates in Germany, Switzerland, the USA and Australia, and it has been operating successfully in Malta for almost 25 years where it currently employs 190 employees.

Minister Cardona said that the company's success is partly attributed to its understanding of the market it operates in and the fact that it is aware that the market never stands still. "You appreciate there is no way of escaping global competition and you understand the importance of continuous investment," reiterated Dr Cardona.

Over the years Seifert Systems Ltd invested in know-how, equipment, machinery and people which has in itself resulted in product innovation.

Minister Cardona also spoke about the enduring relationship between Malta and Germany stating that for the past 10 years, Germany has accounted for about 10% of Malta's exports, and a similar proportion of its imports.

"Malta today hosts about 50 German production and industrial services companies, some of which have been operating in our country for four decades," stated Dr Cardona.

Minister Cardona said that these companies chose and settled in Malta because they were attracted by Malta's competitiveness and productivity, good communications, the supportive educational environment, an English-speaking skilled and highly adaptable workforce and a consistently pro-business environment.

"High-end manufacturing, including precision mechanical engineering, electronic control systems, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical technology and aerospace, as well as high value added international logistics, are the sectors that stand out as promising in terms of growth and expansion," continued the minister.
