Italian singer Claudio Baglioni last night said that the concert he held in Malta in August 2007 was his biggest ever.

Speaking on Rai Uno yesterday at the launch of 10 concerts he will be holding in Rome with another Italian singer Gianni Morandi in September, Baglioni said that some 150,000 are estimated to have attended that concert, held at the Valletta waterfront.

“Half the island was there,” he said. “It’s like having 30 million Italians at a concert.”

The concert was one of the series that Baglioni held to raise awareness on the immigration phenomenon. Gianni Morandi took part in that concert together with Riccardo Cocciante.

The Malta concert, together with another held at Lampedusa in 2005, was mentioned as having been the start of collaboration between Baglioni and Morandi, leading up to the Rome concerts in September.
