emCare showcases SCOPE at Saħħtek event

Monday, 20 July 2015, 19:19 Last update: about 10 years ago

emCare recently showcased one of its health and care solutions, SCOPE at an event organised by Atlas Insurance as part of its sponsorship of Saħħtek: The University of Malta Health and Wellbeing Study. The event was held at the Corinthia Palace Hotel, Attard and addressed Atlas Insurance clients.

Standing for "Safely Communicating health Observations in a Productive and Efficient way", SCOPE enables individuals to conduct routine medical tests and instantly capture the readings electronically through health monitoring devices. Among these devices are a Blood Glucose Meter and a Blood Pressure Monitor. When an individual checks his/her vital signs, the readings are automatically transmitted from the devices to an online platform, thereby updating the person's electronic medical record.

SCOPE also analyses the person's medical readings in comparison to his/her medical thresholds, so as to alert doctors and family members if the readings fall outside these thresholds. In such cases, SCOPE generates an emergency report containing all necessary information for admissions to hospital at the touch of a button, if required.

The Blood Glucose Meter that accompanies SCOPE helps users analyse their progress in achieving overall treatment goals, understand how diet and exercise affect their blood sugar levels, understand how other factors, such as illness or stress affect blood sugar levels, monitor the effect of diabetes medications on their blood sugar levels, as well as identifies blood sugar levels that are dangerously high or low.

Since Saħħtek aims to determine the proportion and number of persons suffering from diabetes, hypertension, lack of physical activity, hyperlipidaemia and obesity currently residing in Malta, the event was a great opportunity for emCare to help raise awareness about the importance of using the latest technology for the generation of accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records.

Invited to the event by Saħħtek sponsor, Atlas Insurance, emCare also exhibited the emCareMobile phone, which may also come with several devices for real-time electronic health monitoring. All devices are Bluetooth-enabled and readings are shown on the device and transmitted directly to an online platform, so that immediate action will be taken if necessary.
