Prepare for a hot weekend – temperatures expected to rise to 38-39 degrees Celsius

Tuesday, 28 July 2015, 11:28 Last update: about 10 years ago

The coming weekend will be the hottest this summer, as temperatures are expected to rise to a maximum of 38-39 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday, weather sites show.

What will be worse is that it will feel like 44-45 degrees, according to the same sites. Humidity levels at between 85 and 95 per cent will not help either.

The respite brought about by a slight breeze on Monday is already gone as from today the temperatures are set to rise steadily over the week until they reach their peak on the weekend.

Nights will not be much cooler either, as the minimum will be 26 degrees, meaning that there will be some tossing and turning before one would be able to sleep.

The sea temperature, at 27-28 degrees, offers little comfort too.

People are advised to drink water regularly and stay in the shade as much as possible. One should also avoid direct exposure to the sun for long stretches, especially between 11am and 4pm.
