PN leader says Labour government undermining education sector

Friday, 31 July 2015, 19:56 Last update: about 10 years ago

PN leader Simon Busuttil said that successive PN governments built a strong education sector along the years and that education will remain a priority for his party.

Addressing University Council Students (KSU), Dr Busuttil said that on the other hand, a Labour government is undermining education, especially when it comes to standards in higher education.

Shadow Minsiter Therese Commodini Cachia was also present for the meeting along with youth spokesperson David Agius and MZPN representatives.

Other issues discussed included the environment, meritocracy and jobs.

KSU president Becky Micallef said the council will continue to work to ensure the rights of students are safeguarded in every way possible.

Meanwhile, Dr Busuttil also addressed the General Meeting of the European Democrat Students (EDS) held in Malta. EDS is the student organisation of the European People’s Party. Dr Busuttil spoke about the three main challenges being faced by European politics – migration, terrorism and climate change – and he insisted that solutions to such problems can only be found through a holistic strategy and full cooperation between all European countries.
