Two Libyans were arrested by the police after they were caught in possession of various objects, including cash of various currencies, which the police said were stolen from St George’s Bay in St Julian’s.
The two Libyans were arrested at 3.15am this morning after the police were informed that “foreigners” were stealing objects from people at the bay. Officers of the Rapid Intervention Unit went on site and conducted a search in the area.
The two Libyan men were noticed sitting on the sand, and they had a white cap in which they were keeping some objects. Their behaviour led the police to suspicions and a woman nearby confirmed that her mobile phone was among the items in the white cap.
The men were arrested by the police and are being held for questioning.
