Ferguson, Missouri — On the eve of the anniversary of Michael Brown being shot and killed during a confrontation with a white police officer, sparking nationwide protests, Brown's father said Saturday that the family is still mourning the unarmed 18-year-old's death. Several weekend events were planned to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of Brown, who was fatally shot by a white police officer on Aug. 9, 2014, in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson. The fatal shooting of Brown by former officer Darren Wilson, sparked sometimes violent clashes between protesters and police, unfolding before Americans on live television.

PRESIDENTIAL RACE-REPUBLICANS

ATLANTA — Donald Trump's bombast continued to roil the Republican presidential race Saturday as several rivals criticized his treatment of a female debate moderator. The organizer of a conservative political convention rescinded the businessman's speaking slot, angering those eager to hear from the brash billionaire who has taken an early lead in the Republican race. The real estate mogul and reality television star, who remains a longshot candidate for the White House, refused to apologize for saying on CNN that Megyn Kelly, who aggressively questioned him during Thursday's primary debate on Fox News, had "blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever" when she asked him about his incendiary comments toward women.

VERMONT DEATHS

BARRE, Vermont — A woman charged in the slaying of a social worker in the northeastern state of Vermont is also "the alleged perpetrator" of the deaths of three relatives whose bodies were found Saturday, Gov. Peter Shumlin said. The three women found dead at a home Saturday morning were an aunt and two cousins of 40-year-old Jody Herring, the governor said at a news conference Saturday night after returning from vacation in Nova Scotia upon hearing of the deaths. Herring was arrested on a murder charge in the death of Lara Sobel.

KILLINGS-BY-POLICE-FOOTBALL-PLAYER

ARLINGTON, Texas — The FBI will participate in the investigation into the death of an unarmed black Texas college football player who was fatally shot by a white officer during a burglary call at a car dealership, a suburban Dallas police chief said Saturday. During a news conference Saturday night, Arlington Police Chief Will Johnson said a special FBI agent in charge of the Dallas field office would take part in the probe. He stressed it "in no way diminishes my confidence" in local officers to conduct the investigation.

OBAMA-IRAN

OAK BLUFFS, Massachusetts — President Barack Obama says a constructive relationship with Iran could be a byproduct of the deal to limit its nuclear program, but it won't happen immediately. If at all. Obama told CNN in an interview airing Sunday that Iran's "nuclear problem" must be dealt with first. He said the agreement reached last month by the U.S. and five other world powers to remove crippling economic sanctions on Iran in exchange for restrictions on its nuclear program achieves that goal "better than any alternative."
