Parliamentary Secretary Stefan Buontempo today launched the Bugibba Summer Carnival, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

This year’s edition will feature a record number of carnival floats and dance companies as well as the traditional Ġostra.

Dr Buontempo said the Bugibba Summer Carnival has become an annual event, now in its fifth edition.

The event is becoming bigger and better, giving artists the space to showcase their talents. He noted that many of these artists take part in the event voluntarily.

The carnival is being part-sponsored by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Local Government through the Cultural Events Scheme, as well as the Malta Arts Council, the Culture Department, the Valletta 2018 Foundation and the Malta Tourism Authority.

Apart from providing entertainment, the event is also welcomed by the Bugibba business community.

There will be 13 items in this year’s edition, including miniature floats and dancers, who will perform on a stage that will be erected in Bugibba’s main square. A defile` will also pass through Bugibba’s streets.  The Ġostracompetition will start at 6.15pm.

The summer carnival is organized by the St Paul’s Bay Local Council and the Bugibba Commercial Community and is assisted and coordinated by the Carnival Community of the Malta Arts Council.
