Celtic tells its fans to have a wash before attending football games

Thursday, 17 September 2015, 15:58 Last update: about 10 years ago

Celtic Football Club has written to its own fans asking them to wash before they go to matches, British media report.

The club made the strange request after fans complained about a stinky supporter.

Celtic Park's main stand is where the pong has been reported.

Season ticket holders who attend the stand were sent the letters.

Celtic's supporter liaison officer, John Paul Taylor, reportedly wrote the letter.

They were told that the fan's excessive stench was "impacting on the experience" of the match.

Celtic declined to reveal the exact wording.

But Taylor took to Twitter to confirm the letter.

He said: "I can exclusively reveal its genuine, dispatched at the request of incumbents within the locale."
