Prime Minister Joseph Muscat meets Turkish President Erdogan in Ankara

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat today paid a visit to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.

A DOI statement said that among the subjects that were discussed there were the economic relations between the two countries.

Turkish companies have strategic investments in Malta, including the Freeport. It has been recently announced that another Turkish company will be buying shares in the private sector Valletta Cruise Terminal.

More strategic links and investment in various areas were discussed.

The two sides also discussed the migrants crisis as heads of two countries which have seen migrant flows in the near past.

The two leaders also discussed next Wednesday's extraordinary European Council on migration.

They also discussed the situation in the Mediterranean with particular reference to Libya.
