Wednesday, 7 October 2015, 09:31 Last update: about 10 years ago

A man was certified to be in danger of loss of life shortly after he was found lying in the street, a few paces away from a motorcycle, the police said today.

The Police General Headquarters' Control Room was informed that a motorcyclist had been hurt in an accident in Triq Gerry Zammit, Gżira at about 10.50pm on Tuesday.

On site, the District Police found an injured man in the street between a boundary wall and electricity pole, with a motorcycle a few paces away.

An ambulance was immediately summoned and the man was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital, where it was established that he was in critical condition and placed in intensive care.

Although he appears to be foreign, his identity has yet to be confirmed, the police said.

Investigations are meanwhile underway by the District Police in order to establish what led to this. So far, however, there does not appear to be any foul play involved. Several experts have also been appointed to assist with a magisterial inquiry.
