Some citizens are more citizens than others

A few weeks ago, I saw Safi local council workers marking out parking spaces in Triq L-Ibrag, Safi. I noticed that they were going to reserve a parking space in front of the gate of a field, which was illegally made in this road as this field can be accessed from another road.

I told them not to paint in front of the gate as I was going to forward a complaint immediately to the Safi local council. Although I protested strongly, as they were going to deprive us from a parking space which is mostly valuable to us residents, I was ignored and they carried on with the work. I also contacted Transport Malta regarding this matter but to no avail.

How is it that this man has been given a reserved parking space which he only uses twice a year to open this gate when a tractor is needed, while elderly residents are being deprived of a parking space by Transport Malta? Having a reserved parking space on our island is not an indulgence owing to the great amount of cars on our roads. I hope that this reserved parking space will be returned to the residents.

I hope that the Hon. Joe Mizzi take the matter in hand and solve this problem which employees at TM are evading.
