The President of the Republic Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca addressed a conference on bullying organised by the Foundation for the Well-being of Society along with the University of Malta.

The conference started after pupils of a majority of schools the President visited during the last year spoke about problems in relation to bullying.

The President explained to those present that a number of children spoke to her about many forms of abuse, including physical and verbal abuse and that bullying leads to exclusion,” the President said.

She emphasised that apart from policies being created against bullying, there is a need for more education and additional educational tools to teach children to accept themselves as they are and thought to respect others, including respecting those with different values or a different sexual orientation.
