Saturday, 12 December 2015, 16:57 Last update: about 9 years ago

The Genera Workers’ Union said today it had negotiated a new collective agreement for employees of Nylon Knitting. The agreement will lead to an improvement in salaries and other financial benefits. The collective agreement is retroactive from January of this year and is being considered by both sidets as a “new beginning for the company in Malta.”

The Secretary of the Metals and Construction Section of the GWU, Pawlu Bugeja, said that after the employees had agreed to make sacrifices in order for the company to survive Nylon Knitting is now looking forward to strengthen its operations in Malta.

Thanks to the good relationships between the company and the union, the former has carried out a series of investments and shelved plans to invest abroad, Mr Bugeja said. The company had also become more competitive thanks to budget measures announced two years ago.  The collective agreement covers the years 2015 to 2017.
