A Syrian caught in Pozzallo had text messages praising the Islamic State, include one that read “God is great, but Isis is greater,” Italian media are reporting.
The 20-year-old was caught in Pozzallo – from where the catamaran leaving for Malta departs – 10 days ago and he was taken to court today.
He was arrested because Italian police suspected him to be linked with Isis, and the discovery of text messages and photos on his mobile phone confirmed the suspicions.
Italian Home Affairs Minister Angelino Alfano was quoted in the Italian media as referring to the incident, saying that the fight against terrorism is a constant battle and cannot afford to have any pauses.
