Updated: Mourinho not planning a break after Chelsea dismissal

Associated Press Saturday, 19 December 2015, 13:24 Last update: about 9 years ago

Jose Mourinho is not planning to take a break from management after his departure from Chelsea and is "already looking forward," a statement by the agency which represents the Portuguese coach said Saturday.

The statement from CAA Sports also appears to confirm that Mourinho was fired from his second spell at Stamford Bridge on Thursday, with Premier League champion Chelsea having lost nine of its first 16 league matches this season.

"Jose Mourinho is pleased that he returned to Chelsea football club because he was able to give the fans another Premier League title," the statement said. "During his career, Jose has sometimes chosen to leave a club, but only at Chelsea has the club decided that he should leave.

"He will not be taking a sabbatical, he isn't tired, he doesn't need it, he is very positive, and is already looking forward. Jose hopes that his future after Chelsea this time will be as successful as when he left the club in 2007."

Mourinho went on to win the treble with Inter Milan in 2010 and managed Real Madrid for three years before returning to Chelsea in 2013. As well as last season's Premier League triumph with the London club, he also guided the team to League Cup triumph.

The 52-year-old Mourinho was seen in the stands at the English second-tier match between Brighton and Middlesbrough on Saturday. Middlesbrough is managed by Aitor Karanka, who was Mourinho's assistant at Madrid.

"Because of his love of football, you will see Jose at football grounds working and supporting friends," the statement added. "He will not be attending any high-profile games because he wants to discourage any speculation about his future."
