What was described as the most beautiful road in Malta by Transport Malta does not have a good rainwater drainage system.

The heavy rain that have hit the island these past hours has led to parts of the road being flooded, making it difficult for drivers.

The road was reopened last month after an extensive makeover which cost €53 million. 

Part of the road was already flooded a few weeks ago when barriers had not been removed.

There are no barriers near the Salini area where today's flooding occurred.
