A Libyan 45-year-old researcher was arrested in Palermo this morning for inciting terrorist activities. The woman, Italian media said, had contacts with foreign fighters and carried out propaganda for terrorist organisations.

The woman has been living in Italy for the last three years. She worked as a researcher on economic matters and received a salary of €2,000 per month from the Libyan embassy.

Italian media said that the woman has been monitored for the last months, and established that she had contacts with two foreign fighters, one based in Belgium and the other in England.

The woman is also believed to have made attempts to help a cousin enter Italy and has also been reported to have sent money to Turkey.
