The Nationalist Party has questioned why Gozo Channel has "silently" halted its ferry service between Gozo and Sa Maison, without offering an alternative solution.

In a statement, the Party said the service has been offered for years and has principally been aimed at shipping goods between Gozo and Malta and vice-versa.

The Party pointed out that these goods will now have to be transported by heavy vehicles to Cirkewwa, which will cause more traffic congestion.

The PN said that instead of seeking to improve the service, the Gozo Ministry, which is responsible for Gozo Channel, has instead decided to halt it, despite offering assurances that a solution will be found.

The Party called for an immediate solution to be found.
