During the inaugaration, Borg explained that the aforementioned project was eligible to qualify after a call was launched by the 'Grupp Azzjoni Lokali tal-Majjistral' which administers the regional funds under the LEADER programme. The Parliamentary Secretary emphasised that, thanks to these allocated funds, which amount to nearly €16,600, the Mdina Experience would be giving a much better service to both nationals and tourists alike. Upgrades for innovative audio-visual technologies were included in the refurbishment which will provide for more plesurable surroundings to all those who visit.

The Parliamentary Secretary expressed his satisfaction that, in recent years, a total of 22 non-governmental projects were eligible for funding under the LEADER programme, where the main focus is that of spurring and exposing various artistic and cultural qualities. Amongst these projects there were the SMEs operators at the Ta' Qali Crafts Village (the same zone that is currently waiting for the approval of EU finances for the total rehabilitation of the area).

The Parliamentary Secretary also thanked the 'Grupp Azzjoni Lokali tal-Majjistral' for their beneficial work, and reminded those who attended the launch that, in  the coming months, there will be further open calls under the LEADER programme, whilst promising that higher amount of funds will be allocated.
