The first animation community in Malta for those that are interested in all aspects of film animation has just been launched. The goal of Animation Malta which has been set up by a group of young talented Maltese animators is to help bring together established and upcoming artists in the field of animation to join forces, network and help the industry grow and develop.

The animation industry is constantly growing and evolving, and this new group hopes to help local animation grow along with it. “Through the facebook page ‘animationmalta’ we want to help local animators to become aware of each other and to collaborate on animation projects and in doing so see the local industry grow.”

Animation has been one of the most powerful and pure methods of storytelling for over a 100 years and storytelling will forever be an essential part of human existence.Animation strives on collaboration and the meeting of various creative minds and artistic disciplines. So much more can be achieved when working together in order for Maltese animation to be heard and seen by the international market and make its mark. “With the local film industry in general starting to find its footing, the timing is perfect to nurture and push animation. ‘Animation Malta’ would like to facilitate in this by creating a platform for animators to make connections and everyone else to be better informed on what projects, released or in development, are out there and lend their support.”
