Wednesday, 27 January 2016, 19:53 Last update: about 9 years ago

The Office of the Prime Minister "did not have time" to show the Auditor General around Villa Francia for an audit last year, the Public Accounts Committee heard this evening.

The Auditor General was informed by the OPM that due to various commitments, there was no time for officials to show the Auditor General around Villa Francia for an audit.

Civil service head Mario Cutajar said the government has worked on updating the inventory at Villa Francia, which was several years out of date.

PN MP Toni Bezzin was informed in a Parliamentary question this week that the government is still compiling the relevant information to answer about the use of Villa Francia.

Mr Bezzina asked the Prime Minister whether his wife, Michelle, used the villa for receptions and other similar activities. He asked the PM to give a breakdown of what receptions had been organised, when they were held, and how much they cost. The Prime Minister said the information was still being compiled.
