Watch: Marsaxlokk, Birzebbuga residents raise concern about early-morning noise

Marsaxlokk and Birzebbuga residents have raised their concern about a loud, constant noise that woke them up early this morning.

Residents who contacted The Malta Independent said that they were woken up by this loud noise which started at around 6am and lasted for several minutes.

One resident sent in a video which, he says, includes the noise that the residents heard this morning. “The noise was very loud and the video was not edited in any manner except for the fact that it was compressed to be able to send it via email. There were no audio enhancements whatsoever,” the resident said.

Other residents think that the noise was emanating from the power station, and they said that any testing should be carried out at a more convenient time for the residents in the area.

They also hoped that this incident was a one-off and that it will not wake them up every day.

Picking up on the story, independet MP Marlene Farrugia said that the government's betrayal of the people in the fifth district continues.

Nationalist Birzebbuga councillor Hermann Schiavone said that he had asked for an investigation.
