Leading architect Roger de Giorgio passes away, aged 93

Leading architect Roger de Giorgio passed away today, aged 93.

Mr De Giorgio, who was born in Milan, studied at the University of Malta from where he graduated in architecture and civil engineering in 1946.

A registered architect in the UK since 1964, he combined a successful career as a senior partner of Mortimer and de Giorgio (1948-1968), Mortimer, de Giorgio and Partners (1968-1971), Malta Consult (1972-1977) and Roger de Giorgio and Partners, with an active involvement in several institutions.

He was one of the architects who designed the Santa Marija Estate in Mellieha.

He was chairman of the board of governors of MCAST between 1969 and 1970 and member of the council of the University of Malta between 1969 and 1971.

He was an active member of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and was a member of the Royal Historical Society since 1987.
