120 million contraband cigarettes confiscated by authorities in Malta since 2013

Up until today, 5,002,778 contraband cigarettes destined to enter the local market were confiscated by the authorities since March 2013, and a further 115,280,000 contraband cigarettes in transit to other countries were also found by the Maltese authorities, a Parliamentary Question posed by Anthony Agius Decelis and answered by Fincance Minister Edward Scicluna revealed.

Among other contraband goods found by the authorities destined for the local market, were over 32,000 bottles of wine, 1,158 mobile phones and 4,182 pyrotechnic products.

 

As for prohibited products, 20,000 ecstasy pills were found, 30 knuckle dusters, 6.6 kilos herbal cannabis, 1,710 kilos of khat and 11.1 kilos of cocaine
