Short films in winter

Monday, 22 February 2016, 15:08 Last update: about 9 years ago

Short films in winter revives cinema for the wintry season: instead of rolling up in your car, as with the drive-ins of yesteryear, you get to sip a hot chocolate in a heated venue as a diverse programme of films unfolds in front of you.

Hosted by Antonella Axisa and curated by Tiana Müller of Rövidfilmek ‒ Hungary, a selection of some of the shorts has been prepared and they will be screened for the very first time on the night. Miss Müller said: "A vast array of wintry tales hailing from all over the world will be screened and they all celebrate how short films can capture memorable scenes of winter from beautiful changing leaves, snow-lined streets and friends gathering around a fire-place in a charming cottage. Miss Müller added: "Between scenes of heartwarming family moments, kisses in the snow, perfectly matched coats and hats, romantic walks in drizzling rain, these short films show that beauty and the warm winter glow can also be found in the coldest season of the year providing ample opportunity for the audience to discover the best shorts coming from across a wide range of genres from animation, experimental to docudramas."

Short films in winter is a unique alternative film distribution, exhibition platform as these shorts don't get to cinemas or to TV. During the film event, the audience will be given the opportunity to vote for the best film.

Entrance is €10 and includes wine, canapés and free popcorn. The venue will be heated.

The event will be held at NAAR Restobar, St Julian's on Wednesday, 2 March at 7.30pm.

The event is being held in collaboration with NAAR Restobar, St Julian's and Euro Media Forum.
