Leader of the Opposition Dr Simon Busuttil has called on the genuine labour party supporters, floating voters and all the PN supporters to join in the protest against corruption which is going to be held later today.

Speaking at a political activity in Bormla this morning, PN leader said that those Labourites with principle who feel betrayed by their party, should join in the protest as many feel they were cheated upon by the present government.

"I call on those genuine Labour Party supporters not to give up. I know that like me, you are against corruption. The PL was hijacked by a group of people who just want to thicken their wallets. But you should help the Labour Party stand on its feet again."

Dr Busuttil said that the government can cheat on its people once, twice but this cannot go on for ever. He called on the floating voters to also join in the protest.

"We have lost a lot of floating voters in the last general election. But, I am sure, that in the same way we lost them, we can get them back." "We held the administration for 25 years because we were a good government. That is why we were re-elected again and again. In 25 years, we never reached this level of corruption, while now, corruption has reached the steps of Castille."

He said the issue lies with whether the person in power wants to fight corruption or not. Dr Busuttil said his standards were put to test more than once, but he never failed. "The government's only line of defence is by attacking us, and this is because they are in panic mode," he said.

"We have a new challenge ahead. It is the most important challenge since we joined the European Union. To clean up the political system in Malta and put the country back on the right track."
He referred to the Panama scandal in which both Minister Konrad Mizzi and the OPM Chief of Staff, Keith Schembri is involved.

"If the two of his closest people have companies in Panama, why is he defending them instead of throwing the away?"

Early this morning, PN Club owners in Bormla found eggs thrown at the door. They were cleaned out before the activity commenced.
