A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the European Region of the World Confederation of Physiotherapists (ER-WCPT) and the Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME).

The MoU, signed by ER-WCPT Chairman Sarah Bazin and CPME President Dr de Hallen is a Sirst in Europe and focuses on patients' rights, professional practice, healthcare delivery and continued education and professional development.

One of the key areas of the agreement is that "the partners call for the establishment and maintenance of regulatory frameworks which support self-regulation and allow for professional autonomy, balanced by professional responsibility, to be exercised".

Victoria Massalha, President of the Malta Association of Physiotherapists views this agreement as a positive initiative towards addressing mutual concerns that further strengthens the ties between both professions.

Both the Malta Association of Physiotherapists and Malta Association of Medicine believe that this MoU is a step in the right direction with regards to promoting excellence in patient care throughout Europe.
