Inspector Robert Vella today presented charges against the directors of the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre following the March 2014 incident in which four workers were injured.

MFCC directors Winston Zahra, Gerald Borg, Joseph Fenech and Anita Mifsud and projects manager Mark Anthony Farrugia will now have to face charges.

The directors will be charged with involuntarily causing grievous bodily harm on a person who was in danger of losing his life. They will also have to face charges over the slight injuries caused on three people.

Another charge includes damaging equipment belonging Nexos and RVC Limited and of breaching health and safety regulations.

The case dates back to 17 March 2014 when four workers were injured when a metal structure which formed part of the tent at MFCC collapsed. A 48-year-old man from Fgura suffered grievous injuries and was even in danger of losing his life.

The incident occurred as the stage was being for the rock-opera Gensna.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera will preside over the case which will commence on 21 April.
