Secondary school students visit the Central Bank

Friday, 18 March 2016, 20:21 Last update: about 9 years ago

Over fifty students from private, church and government schools recently visited the Central Bank of Malta premises. This visit formed part of the European Money Week activities organised by the Malta Bankers' Association. These activities included a series of events, both at national and European levels, aimed at raising public awareness on the importance of financial literacy from an early age, and the need of improving financial education for students from junior and secondary schools.

During this educational visit, the Curator of the Bank's Currency Museum gave an overview of the coins and banknotes currently on display. The tour was followed by a presentation and a discussion on the Central Bank of Malta's role and functions as an independent institution working within the European System of Central Banks.

This was the second consecutive year that the Central Bank of Malta participated in this initiative.
