U.S. AND INTERNATIONAL:

WHY BELGIUM? — Belgium has come up short in its efforts to prevent attacks time and again, experts say — failing to coordinate intelligence, investigate suspects and control its borders. No country has a perfect record, but Belgium's is especially bad.

UNITED STATES-NATO

America's substantial support for NATO has been questioned by some as a throwback to the Cold War era — but the Brussels attacks have underscored the need for the U.S. and its European allies to work together to counter threats.

OBAMA-ARGENTINA — President Obama confronts a dark chapter of America's history in Latin America when he pays tribute to victims of Argentina's "Dirty War" at a memorial in Buenos Aires.

MISSING MALAYSIAN PLANE — Two pieces of debris recently discovered along the coast of Mozambique are "highly likely" to have come from missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, Australian and Malaysian officials say.

KOREAS-TENSION — North Korea says it has successfully conducted a high-powered, solid-fuel rocket engine test, which if confirmed would be a major step forward in boosting its missile attack capability against South Korea and the United States.

NKOREA-FORSAKEN REMAINS — The North Korean village elder reached in a sack to reveal femurs, skull and jaw fragments, boots and a rusted green helmet. "These are your American GIs," he said at a burial mound near the top of a small hill. Perhaps they are. For more than a decade, no one has been trying to find out.

NEW YORK FED-BANGLADESH-HACK — A U.S. lawmaker is seeking answers from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York over the theft by cyber criminals of $81 million from the Bangladesh central bank's account at the New York Fed.
