RE/MAX & Friends supports Presidents Trust Project Blossom Foundation

Friday, 25 March 2016, 17:58 Last update: about 9 years ago

RE/MAX & Friends Foundation will be supporting the President's Trust, Blossom Foundation. This trust is heading a project for children from the age of three to ten years that live in a deprived environment that is affecting their education.

The Blossom Foundation, which initiated this project ran a study and confirmed that several children that are registered at the St. Paul's Bay Primary School are not coping with their daily lives due to unwanted family disruption and poverty.  Thirty percent of nine hundred and sixty pupils that attend the St. Paul's Bay Primary School originate from foreign nations. Several of these pupils including Maltese require additional support such as counselling and assistance in homework due to these issues.

As there is only one appointed councillor to cover over 4000 children in this district, the President's Trust has supported the Blossom Foundation's goal of appointing an exclusive Councillor for the Primary School which has also engaged three volunteers to assist in the project.  The qualified councillor will be using techniques such as play therapy, which is an empirically supported intervention used to address a number of developmental issues faced in childhood.

RE/MAX & Friends Foundation, together with other sponsors, has pledged their support with funds that will ensure the employment of the said councillor.  Jeffrey Buttigieg, Board Member of the RE/MAX & Friends Foundation said "When Blossom Foundation approached us for support we felt that this ticked all the boxes and is in line with the RE/MAX & Friends Foundation's values to support such children, whom we believe are the future of our country."
