The Malta Tourism Authority, in collaboration with Malta’s Embassy in Kuwait and Turkish Airlines, recently hosted a number of journalists from Kuwait on a press trip in Malta.

The press representatives who were hosted by the MTA came from the top media houses in Kuwait, namely, Al Jarida Newspaper, Al Rai Newspaper, Al Qabas Newspaper and the Arab Times.

Throughout their stay, the journalists visited some of the main historical sites and tourist attractions around the Maltese Islands. In addition, the journalists also attended a number of meetings with various public entities and professional bodies including Malta Enterprise, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the University of Malta, the Institute for Tourism Studies and the Federation of English Language Teaching Organisations of Malta - FELTOM.

MTA CEO, Mr Paul Bugeja said “this press trip was the first one of its kind from this untapped market and has already yielded positive results in terms of media coverage. A number of articles have already been published, promoting Malta as a tourist destination, a destination to learn English and potentially pursue tertiary education, as well as a place for foreign investment.” Mr Bugeja concluded by thanking all those involved in making this press trip a success, particularly Malta’s Ambassador in Kuwait, Mr. Patrick Cole, who assisted with sourcing these journalists, and Turkish Airlines, for providing flights.
