Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights, Roderick Galdes will be attending the silent protest organised by animal activists this Sunday.

Replying to questions sent by The Malta Independent, the Parliamentary Secretary has confirmed his attendance. He explained that he will attend "to send a message that the Government has this sector very close to heart, and that the way forward is more awareness and education, even though this might be a message different to what the organizers want to portray."

Popular TV presenter Moira Delia is the brains behind this event which was triggered following an animal cruelty case which ended up in court.

This newsroom is informed that most of the animal rights NGO will be attending the event. Island Sanctuary, Noah's Ark, AAA, Happy Paws and Animal Guardians, are some of those who are supporting the event.

Delia explained that the main aim behind the event is to reach out to authorities and to pass on the message that animal right laws in Malta are failing. Now, it appears that they will not have to shout very much to get their message across, as the person who is supposed to lend an ear to animal right activists will be actually joining in the parade.

The Nationalist Party has also confirmed that it will be participating. Opposition spokesperson for Animal Rights Mario Galea will be attending.
