A cyclist is in a critical condition after being hit by a car at about 5.30pm on Aviation Avenue in Gudja this evening.

In a statement, the police said that a Skoda Favorit, driven by a 50-year-old from Sant Lucija git a 75-year-old Luqa resident. The elderly man was rushed to hospital where he was found to be in a critical condition.

The duty magistrate was informed and appointed a number of experts to assist in drawing up an inquiry.
