The first night of the Malta International Fireworks Festival was an outright success with thousands of people turning out in Marsaxlokk to watch the spectacular pyro-musical competition that kicked off at 21:30 hrs with a display by Pirotecnica Poleggi from Italy, which was then followed by Hojen & Magic Fireworks company, which hail from Denmark. The evening drew to a close with a local display from St George`s Fireworks Factory from Qormi, Malta. The event was complemented with live concerts by local bands Xarulu and Airport Impressions.
Throughout the night there were additional attractions for both locals and tourists, such as exhibitions about the manufacturing of fireworks, a car exhibition, street animations, guided tours of the Marsaxlokk Harbour as well as street musicians performing all along the promenade.
The spectacle will continue on Saturday 23rApril in Xagħra, Gozo at 9.30pm, with firework displays from Dance of Fire (Ukraine), Macedo`s Pirotecnia (Portugal) and St Mary Fireworks Factory (Għaxaq, Malta)
On Saturday 30 April, the night will kick off at 9.30pm with the winner’s presentation followed by the Grand Finale in the unique settings of Valletta’s Grand Harbour with a pyro musical show by Pyroemotions of Italy in collaboration with Lourdes Fireworks Factory Qrendi.
