A 77-year-old woman of Marsascala died last night in a traffic accident in Fgura.

The woman was riding as a passenger in a car that crashed into a stationary vehicle in Zabbar Road at around 10pm.

The car, a Toyota Rac4, rolled on its side on impact and the woman died on the spot. 

The police said that the 79-year-old driver, resident of Marsascala, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a Renault, which was stationary at the time. The driver and passenger in the Renault were unhurt.

The Toyota driver was also injured and was taken to hospital suffering from shock.

Magistrate Aaron Bugeja is conducting an inquiry.
