A 55-year-old man of San Gwann is in critical condition after he was stabbed several times at Armier on Wednesday evening, the police said.

The man was found in a pool of blood outside a boathouse in the bay, and he was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where he was found to have suffered stab wounds and is in critical condition.

A 34-year-old woman of Swieqi was found tied up in the area of the attack, and she was found to have suffered slight injuries.

The police believe that three men who were hooded attacked the couple and stole the man’s car. It was later found in Mellieha.

A magisterial inquiry is under way.
