Former Labour Party President Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi Azzopardi today announced his candidacy for the post of Labour Party’s deputy leader.

He is the third candidate to announce his candidacy after Economy Minister Chris Cardona and Justice Minister Owen Bonnici.

So far he is the only candidate who is not part of the Cabinet.

The election is being held in June after the resignation of Konrad Mizzi in the wake of the Panama Papers scandal. Dr Mizzi was elected in February in what was a o0ne-horse race.

The election for a new Labour Party deputy leader for party affairs will take place in June.
